The Italian Festival 2023 Returns With Events Showcasing Italian Excellence In Singapore

The 2023 Italian Festival in Singapore is set to take place from May to July, and it promises to be a spectacular event showcasing Italy’s best in a range of sectors. Organized by the Embassy of Italy in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Singapore, and several Italian associations, the festival will feature events that promote Italian excellence in partnership with Singaporean organisations.

The first edition of the festival took place in 2022 and reached an audience of over 200,000 people, with more than 50 events held in various locations across Singapore. According to Ambassador Mario Vattani, it “decisively contributed to raising Singapore’s awareness about Italian excellence in traditional fields such as fashion, food, and wine, as well as in the most technologically advanced sectors.”

This year, the festival kicked off on 2 May with Italy’s participation in IMDEX-Asia (International Maritime Defence Exhibition), where it will showcase cutting-edge Italian technology in the naval and electronic sector. The festival’s main events will take place in June, celebrating Italy’s National Day – “Festa della Repubblica.” From 2 June to 16 July, Gardens by the Bay will feature Apulian-inspired installations and cultural content, which have been brought exclusively from Italy to Singapore for the festival with the support of the Regione Puglia and Puglia Promozione, in partnership with the Embassy of Italy in Singapore and several Italian sponsors.

The festival will also feature a range of cultural events, including theatre, cinema, and music performances. From 20-21 May, Italian artist Andrea Salutri will present an immersive Object Theatre performance that blurs the borders between contemporary circus, dance, and physical theatre. The best of Italian cinema will be showcased during the EU Film Festival (16-31 May) and the Italian Film Festival (9-18 June), with screenings of highly acclaimed movies, including the timeless classics “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” and “Nuovo Cinema Paradiso.”

In addition, the festival will highlight Italy’s collaboration with Singapore’s Botanic Gardens with two events organized by the Italian Embassy in collaboration with NParks. A seminar on “Biodiversity and Migration of Botanical Species” will be held at the Singapore Botanic Gardens’ Function Hall on 25 May, while a talk on the innovations of the two gardens will be held at Sala Italia of the Embassy of Italy on 26 May.

The festival will also offer workshops, wine and food tastings, and opportunities to explore Italy’s investment sector and scientific-technological advancements. For those who can’t attend the events in person, the festival’s website will feature online promotions of Italian products and a complete list of events, which will be constantly updated with the latest news.

The 2023 edition of Italian Festival in Singapore promises to be an exciting celebration of Italy’s best and brightest. From fashion, food, and wine to cutting-edge technology and scientific advancements, the festival offers something for everyone, with events that showcase Italy’s rich cultural heritage and its contributions to the modern world. Be sure to mark your calendars and don’t miss out on this spectacular event!
